You're invited to our Visitor Luncheon, a fun first step to know us better, meet some of our leaders, and enjoy a delicious meal alongside others who are exploring LOPC. It happens every other month, so join us for the next one! Click on the image above for more information and luncheon dates.
Have you been attending LOPC for a while and want to take the next step? The Inquirer's Class is offered several times a year and answers many questions about church membership and Christianity. Although there is no pressure to join the church, the class is a prerequisite for membership at LOPC. The class is composed of two sessions, usually scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Childcare is available upon request. Click on the image above for more information and class dates.
Visitor FAQs
Thank you for your interest in Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church! Visiting a church for the first time can be a little intimidating, so we hope to put you at ease by answering some commonly asked questions. You may also want to download this PDF version of our welcome brochure.
What times are the Sunday services?
Sunday activities begin at 9:15 am with classes for all ages (nursery, children, youth, adult). We have one service on Sunday at 10:30 am, and it's also livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube. Check our calendar for the latest Sunday morning schedule and sermon series.
What should I wear?
We want to welcome you as you are. Life here at Lake Oconee is relaxed, and so is our dress code! You'll see a little bit of everything depending on the season, from sport coats and dresses to short sleeves and jeans.
What happens during a typical worship service?
Our worship service includes pastor-led prayer, singing, reciting creeds/confessions (found in the bulletin), and expository preaching from the Bible. A service typically lasts an hour, and you can access our Sunday bulletin ahead of time by clicking here.
If I'm not PCA, am I welcome to attend?
Absolutely! In fact, a number of our members come from various denominational backgrounds, so you'll be in good company. If you don't usually attend church, we're a great place to start!
Are there activities for children?
- For children birth to age 4, we offer nursery during both the Sunday School hour (9:15) and the Worship Service (10:30).
- For kids age 4 through 5th grade, we offer Elementary Sunday School at 9:15.
- During the Worship Service, children ages 4-8 are invited to join their families for the worship time and then exit the service during the Doxology for Children’s Worship.
- Youth Sunday School is also offered for 6th-12th grade students.
Will I be asked for money?
As a visitor, you are not expected to make a contribution. For those interested, there are contribution envelopes in the backs of the sanctuary chairs and an offering box in the narthex. We also offer online giving through our church app.
Will I be contacted if I fill out any sort of visitor information?
While we do offer visitor information cards to fill out, you can provide as little or as much information as you like - or none at all until you feel comfortable doing so.
