Adult Learning Communities

The purpose of our Adult Learning Communities is to provide topical and biblical studies, which run the gamut of themes for new believers all the way to seasoned saints. Each class is designed to be both informative and interactive, as well as an avenue for deeper study throughout the week. Classes change on a trimester basis, and people are encouraged to go to the class that most interests them. For more information, contact Rev. David F, Ridenhour at 706-484-0600, ext. 224 or by email at david.ridenhour@lopc-pca.org

September - december 2010 (Trimester 3)

New Adult Learning Communities will begin on September 5th, and continue through December 26th, with combined ALC's in October for visiting missionaries.

Doctrine: What Every Christian Should Believe
(led by various teachers, Music Suite rooms 101-103 at 9:30 a.m.)

Perhaps when you hear the word Doctrine, it conjures up some imagery that is less than pleasant. Yet, understanding what the Bible teaches and what we believe is central to understanding the very nature of God and his plan for the world. Focusing then on God, our study will be organized around some of his central actions: God is, speaks, makes, loves, judges, pursues, comes, dies, saves, sends, transforms, gives, reigns. Come and join us as we unpack what God says about himself in this 13-week study.

God is the Gospel: God's Love is the Gift of Himself
(led by various teachers, room 109 at 9:30 a.m.)

"Gospel" means good news-but what makes the good news good? What is the goal of the gospel, without which it is no longer good? It is that Christ's death brings sinners to God! Were it to bring us anywhere else we would be left hopeless. But the gospel is that God gives us himself-Christ died to give us Christ-, and this self-giving is his highest mercy to us and the best news for us! The most profound, most exceedingly gracious, final and decisive good of the good news is Christ himself as the glorious image of God revealed for our endless satisfaction. Come join us as we consider the gospel and it's point and purpose.
