The "Praying Hearts - Busy Hands" ministry had its organizational meeting January 28, 2008, with 16 women attending. It has since blossomed into a gathering of like-minded women who are dedicated to honor and serve our Lord and Savior by producing hand-made items such as knitted, crocheted, and quilted baby blankets, and prayer shawls for those in need of spiritual comfort knowing this article was created not only with our talents, but most importantly with our prayers for the recipient.

These periodic meetings include a devotional and prayer, and there will be sharing of skills, ideas, and patterns as we celebrate our God-given gift of creativity. Attending meetings is not a requirement for being a part of this ministry nor is previous skill. All who have an interest in (or desire to learn) knitting, sewing, crocheting, or handicrafts in general should plan to attend.

In the past the following have been made; prayer shawls, baby layettes, and children’s hats for individuals and for charities in the LOPC community, for the Food Bank Ministry to take to West Virginia, and to be distributed to orphans in Africa.

In June of 2012 almost 50 bears were made for children who are transported by Putnam County EMTs and Fire Departments to hospitals. The variety of bears was amazing, demonstrating both the creativity and dedication of our Praying Hearts Busy Hands members. Hopefully, the bears will provide comfort and solace and a reminder of God's constant love to children experiencing one of the most disruptive and scary events of their young lives.

Please join us!  It is a joyous group and we promise you will enjoy the time!
