"... to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."
Ephesians 4:12
Ephesians 4:12 reminds us that the task of the church is the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry. Paul doesn’t leave it there; this is done so that the body of Christ is built up.
We all need help in our lives, whether in understanding God’s work in ourselves, our families, or our relationships. Our desire is to speak in to all of this, and equip the people of God for the road ahead.
Please make your plans to join us for the “Equip Seminars” offered on Friday evening, March 25th & Saturday morning, March 26th. The following topics will be offered.
“How To Deal With Conflict, Confrontation, and Forgiveness”
Led by Dr. Joe King (Choir Suites 101-102)
All of us experience conflict in our lives. It may come from relationships involving as spouse, a family member, a church member, or someone else that we know. Often that conflict may lead to a confrontation involving us and another person. What guidelines and principles does the Bible give us for conflict resolution? How can I confront without offending the other person? What principles does the Bible give us for forgiving one another? Should I forgive even though the offending person has not repented or changed their behavior? Please plan to join us for the Equip Seminar on March 25th and 26th for answers to these and other questions.
“Rediscovering Lost Treasures: Why Reformed Spirituality Matters”
Led by David F. Ridenhour (Room 109)
There could possibly be nothing that sounds as un-exciting as a course on spirituality. And then to add the word "reformed" to it almost adds insult to injury. But wait! How a normal, every day Christian struggles to grow in their relationship with Christ is nothing new. In fact, it has been around since the days of the apostles. And over time, the church has commended myriads of ways to grow strong and mature in our faith. The problem is, so often, we are not attracted to what is tried, true, and valuable, but rather what is new, exciting, and seems to be gathering a crowd. This class will try to recover things that are in fact very old ideas; things that are promised in the Word, and championed by the reformation.
In this class, we will be exploring the various means of grace that God has given his people, the church, and the potential life changing impact that embracing these means could have on our lives. We want to allow the content and structure of our lives to be fully shaped by our faith and practice, so that while we journey as pilgrims and strangers, we journey as those who have hope.
There will be light dinner served at on Friday from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m., followed by teaching from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday morning will begin with a continental breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., followed by teaching from 9:30 to 12:00 noon.
We encourage you to sign up in the narthex and invite some friends from the community to join us.
Childcare will be provided.
Please sign up in the church narthex, the church office, or register on line.
